I wish I'd had more time to work on this one! Didn't even get started, at all, until about 7 tonight. Even though this assignment didn't give me much room to focus on my "project" for this round, I always love working on some good 60's pop.
I started with the basic Davy Jones-ish "which girl?" dilemma (though this one has slightly more sinister and/or kinky connotations), and leaned towards the more Paul Revere/Kinks-esque "tough and slightly pre-psychedelic" side of the Monkees (a la "She," maybe). Hard panning, tambourine, unnecessary master-buss flanging, Rickenbackers ... I might have stolen a melody from Martin Newell. Wish I'd had time for a little Hammond, but fun time is over ...
