Thus ends my long-standing obligation to Beki Hemingway. I think I started out trying to write a straight-ahead, unabashedly contemporary country song, but then a little Aimee Mann and John Prine got in the way. This song is in no way a reflection of any particular single real-life story, but I have been recently reminded or made aware of the serious difficulties that many of my friends and acquaintances go through in trying to prioritize their music and their relationships. I am thankful everyday that I have a long-suffering wife that always allows me to indulge my music addiction.
