This song started with the cryptograph challenge. The opening guitar line is the root being the letter ‘A’ and then on up the alphabet from there. I simply spelled ‘Mary’ with the first four notes which repeats. I don’t know why ‘Mary’, I just figured that seems to be a universal name to represent a girl in a song. After that, the rest of the song just came into place. I’m sure I haven’t done anything here that hasn’t been done before, but it’s a story that maybe can be told once more.
lyrics
Mary
You know love can make a family fall apart
When it’s aimed in the wrong direction
You might find yourself just fallin’ for a rose in another garden
What happened, would you please just tell me
Mary – Why don’t you love me anymore
Mary – Why don’t you let me in so we can love again
Don’t close me out now my heart’s an open door
Rainbows never lead to a pot of gold
They just keep you runnin’ around in circles
When you try to run for the middle,
The circle fades away and you’re left with nothin’
Won’t you turn around now, I’m still waiting
Mary – Why don’t you love me anymore
Mary – Why don’t you let me in so we can love again
Don’t close me out now my heart’s an open door
Solo
I know it might be hard to do
But if you let me know you might find what your missin’
Mary – Why don’t you love me anymore
Mary – Why don’t you let me in so we can love again
Don’t close me out now my heart’s an open door
