Oh Me La! I was feeling Cajun this week y’all! Clay asked for a song about Monroe St. Well that sounded New Orleans to me for some reason…not even close to Clay’s hometown but I went for it. Risky because everyone knows Bourbon Street, but Maybe Monroe St. was like the first Bourbon Street back in the 1800’s or something. After I started recording this, I check Google Maps and there is a Monroe St in New Orleans…just over from Lake Ponchetrain so It’s not total fiction.

Now I failed miserably at writing like someone else. Sorry guys and gal – I just ain’t that good. I can barely write like my dang self. But if anything, I tried to step out of my own character and into the character of a Cajun for this. Similar to how ??????? is in his character for most of his songs. So there ya go. I really like the song though.

When I was little, I listened to a lot of storybook records and radio drama fascinates me now so I did a little something like that on the front of this one featuring my son, William and his friend David and I. We were walking through the woodsy swamp headed for the party down by Monroe St. Ya’ll come on an’ go with now, won’t ya?!
