So I really did start trying to to an homage to a club member, but I got distracted and lost some of the homaginess. Unless I accidentally got it right, in which case I totally meant to do that.
The song is about a guy who is going to meet a girl, but he can't find where they were supposed to meet, and is beginning to wonder if she lied to him or he dreamed the girl up or is going crazy.
lyrics
His hair slicked back, he sat & turned the key
Today he dared not risk being tardy
The destination was no mystery
He had found it before, the path was easy
But where the road was supposed to be
An aged curb was all he could see.
This scene must be lies
Told by his own eyes
He’ll try to drive down this road once again
He must have been looking the other way
The maps are wrong, he knows she wrote it in pen
It was right here just yesterday
But the scrap that he could not find
was the only piece of this sign
of what he knows
but he cannot show
Why can't I find Monroe Street?
I hear her whisper "that's where we'll meet
where the blind man sells his neon lights”
There’s no such place, this can’t be right
The needle sinks in the corner of his eye
Even his phone disbelieves him
Familiar landmarks evaporate on nigh
His trust in his acumen grows thin
Had he just played the perfect pawn
or was she conjured right before the dawn
Was he insane
to feel this pain?
Why can't I find Monroe Street?
I hear her whisper "that's where we'll meet
where the blind man sells his neon lights”
There’s no such place, this can’t be right
