Still pursuing that Hall & Oates vibe, but this one definitely went a step too far. I started cueing off a more "Maneater" kind of vibe, starting with a Linn drum machine sequence and a Prophet organ bass, and then I just went down a 1983 wormhole. Even the lyrics fed off that terrible, overdramatic John Paar-style vibe. Ah, well; I just couldn't help myself. Sure was fun while it lasted, though ...
lyrics
we keep our numbers straight
Most every day
Don’t break a sweat
don’t snap a clean streak
Oh, something changes with
The shadows growing long
Must be the moon
just makes my knees weak
Just takes a single word
It all goes right to wrong
Something goes snap and
Trips the fault wires
Can’t help what happens then
You know I try to fight
Just gasoline poured
On a wildfire
Can’t stop what started
I’m torn at the seams
So real, what once only
lived in my dreams
We play a friendly round
Until the sun goes down
Nobody’s going down in hot flames
After the shadows fall
Another free-for-all
I think I’m ready for the night games
It’s all so cut and dry
Lit by the light of day
Nowhere to hide
Beneath the noon sun
The stroke of midnight
temptation creeping round
I know I’m not the only lost one
