Well, ol' Chuck Folds and I have been batting about the idea of maybe one day putting together a little horn band, so of course, I immediately started wanting to try to write some songs. That's what this round is going to be about for me. Sorry about the crappy horn samples (lord, I hate horn samples!), but I think that the horn arrangements are going to be an integral part of these songs, so I'll bite the bullet.
Lyrically, I like the hook on this one, but the rest is a bit of a mess. But mostly now, I'm just trying to hone in on some basic vibes that might work for this project, and I think this one could be promising.
lyrics
oh, that first night
You took the first bite
I knew I’d seen you there before
Oh, I should have known
I should have known
You had your script tight
Read all your lines right
And I believed every word
Oh, I should have known
I should have known
So cry your tears
Til it all disappears
You know how to play your part
so sad that we’re through
I know it’s true
Not the first to break your heart
Oh, how you twist me
Each time you kissed me
Won’t let it happen no more
I can’t go on
I can’t go on
Looks like I froze up
Here comes your close up
I’ve seen this movie before
And I know how it ends
I know how it ends
So cry your tears
Til it all disappears
You know how to play your part
so sad that we’re through
I know it’s true
Not the first to break your heart
