I didn't intend to write a psychedelic environmentalist song. I am not a full-fledge environmentalist but I try to do my part with what I have. Regardless, I was writing to the melody and the line "So mother earth please wash away our sins" came to me and I just rolled with that. This one was fun with a dirty Velvet Underground style C guitar tuning and my "faux sitar". A good week to violate the rules and get disqualified!
lyrics
So is the mountain, that gets us high
Venom in the rivers, that will run dry
There's cancer in the air, just take it in
So mother earth please wash away our sins
Oil in the ocean, doesn't make a sound
Aquatic genocide, just brings me down
The sun is burning thru, just take it in
So mother earth please wash away our sins
The fire in the water, burns the flame
Drill into our souls and feel no shame
Pick your poison and just take it in
So mother earth please wash away our sins
