Not at ALL the song I'd planned on writing this week. I started with track ideas this week, and after trying my hand at a rather generic "In the Street"-type track, I just followed my Big Star muse a bit and ended up with this. Clay can be the judge of whether this qualifies in any way as "rock," but I kinda like it a little. Not sure I'll ever use it for anything, but it's always fun to get a little power-poppy. Lyrics are, once again, an absolute afterthought. I've GOT to start working on lyrics a little earlier in the week.
lyrics
don't say you know what it means
all your favorite scenes
haven't seen you round no more
I know you've been laying low
waiting for the blowback
you know it's coming down
don't say let it go
you don't mean it
I just gotta know
I can't make you stay
it's yours to say
but I'd give most anything
If you make your way
to yesterday
I will keep your promise ring
somewhere, there's a place for you
I'd take you if I knew
how to keep you true
but you'll be where you need to be
can't see what you see
beyond these ivy walls
don't say let it go
you don't mean it
I just gotta know
I can't make you stay
it's yours to say
but I'd give most anything
If you make your way
to yesterday
I will keep your promise ring
