Don't ask. Trust me, I'm as confused as you are. Another week where I began with the track and wrote to it, but this time, I actually started with the drumming for some reason. Somehow, Edgar Winter, Jack White, Elvis Costello, Henry Rollins, Peter Wolf, Beck, and Rush all show up for the party. Weird party. I swear, for the next few weeks, I'm really going to try to demo with just an acoustic guitar or piano.
lyrics
I'm tired of your guff, baby
get off my back, you're like a heart attack
you leave me cold
how do you make such noise
you're like a record baby
skipping like the beat of my heart
heart is heavy hard to tie you down tight as a knot, not not
never knowing how you really feel
take it, take it back, dark as carbon black
never left your side, you see
you've been set to stun like a gatling gun
don't you think you're fancy free
when you built the Sphinx did you think
you'd be sinking in the sands of another age?
I think you'd better think for the long haul
hall of mirrors smoking you out smoking you out again
you should have seen it coming should've trusted me to act
but you were swinging hammers in a suicide pact
and now that you have learned you could've used a softer touch
you doth protest too much
and for the record I would like to add in my defense
you're the one that's guilty of capital offense
and in summation, my duration, lest you be confused
is considerable, and I'm still here
I can see for miles, and I can see a lot of fools
no one's got the guts to come around and break your rules
seven hundred men couldn't tear it down, the wall of truth
I'm the only one who's standing here, and there's your proof
it's proof to you
