Still floundering a bit, as I have such a backlog of songs that I have no real outlet right now. At some point, Molly and I hope to do a little collection of duet songs, and we've recorded a couple of things, mostly as lullabies for Sophie. So that's sort of the direction I was going for, here. Designed for Molly to sing, in a vaguely Iris DeMent-ish way. Very twee and overwrought, but kind of sweet, too.
lyrics
Sweet is the parting
Soft is the end
Sorrow, she's starting
To feel like a friend
Tender temptation
Few, far between
Soul separation
Pain never seen
Oh, if only you knew
How lost I am for you
Give me your word
Sweetest sound ever heard
Put on some speed in the night
Fly home to me
By the sycamore tree
I'll leave a lantern alight
