So this track I wanted to do an Elton John kinda feel. Idea was what it must feel like to have everything you "wanted", but then missing out on the things that matter most, and that most people take for granted.
lyrics
Used to go out drinking
Never did much thinking
About anyone but me
Road was just too glamorous
There will still be time for us
Kept in touch when it suited me
I'd take it back if I could but can't
So where do we go from here
Flyin like a rocket, too young to settle down
You were born on a Sunday in a sleepy little town
Now you're almost 5 years old
it's true the time flies
When I come home it's hard to recognize
You re hard
First steps I'd be missing
I'd read you would listen
You would call me daddy
That day it all changed for me
Alone and feeling sorry
I want it back but it's too late
I'd trade it all if I could but I can't
Where do we go from here
Flying like a rocket, too high to ever land
Bright like a sunset, this funny little man
Now your almost 10 years old
Sparkle in your eyes
When I come home you start to recognize
When I come home now you recognize
Nothing will stop this
I stayed far too long
I promise to always
care and be there be there
can watch you grow
The rockets landed safely on the ground
Found what's important and I'm holding on now
Think back to the man I was and the times I left behind
When I look back its hard to recognize
