Sometimes I imagine myself as comfortable in my own skin
And picture what it’d be like not worrying about unknowns or where to begin
And I sit in that moment, my skin feels like loose clothing
And then I remember whose I am
And that’s when I rise.
So much out there dragging down an already weary soul
Endless news cycles weave narratives that spin out of control
But the story of fear is a story of our own making
We have the power to share a different one
One where we rise
Everyone is a part of us - that's what someone once said to me
What holds us together is stronger than what pulls us apart, if we believe
We are the authors of our future, blank pages to fill
We have a chance to rewrite the narrative
and because of that we will rise.
