My dad loves country music. From Brad Paisley to Conway Twitty, Keith Urban to Hank Williams Sr and everything in between. I sat down last night and today and wrote pieces of five real shitty country tunes that could possibly be sung by any of those aforementioned artists. Then i stumbled on this chorus and had to finish this one. I don't love it but i think with a little massaging this could be a Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney song. I think my Dad will like it. I wish I had more time to make it a little more country but alas I have too much going on this week so Guitar/Vocal it is. It's super depressing and no happy ending.
Enjoy!
lyrics
Sit on down raise a glass try
not to think about the past
Since you've gone can't move on
You were taken oh so fast
Even the angels cried out loud
When they saw you coming
I don't know how I’m gonna let you go
I see your face
When I close my eyes
I see your face
Then I start to cry
I miss your face
It's too hard to say goodbye
Don't even know if i can try
We were young barely teens
When you gave your heart to me
I carved it in the old oak tree
cut my hand and skinned my knee
When I fell I fell for you
Now What am I supposed to do
Can't believe I have to let you go
I see your face
When I close my eyes
I see your face
Then I start to cry
I miss your face
It's too hard to say goodbye
Don't even know how I could try
I gave you my heart
I made you my wife
You gave us a daughter now she's all I've got and
I see your face
When I look into her eyes
I see your face
Then I start to cry
We miss your face
It's so hard to say goodbye
It's gonna take a little time
It's so hard to say goodbye
It's gonna take a little time
