First track in a few weeks that wasn't an absolute throwaway Hail Mary! This is the first time in a long time that I went back to what I think of as the art-rock, Gabriel/Elbow/Billy Pilgrim kind of stuff I like to do every once in awhile. I had every intention of recording this as a single piano and vocal take, and I'm not sure the production added much, but I couldn't help myself. I'd definitely like to go back and put in a lot of work on the lyrics, but I feel like I was at least able to get across a strong sense of the pathos of letting go. I really have no outlet right now for songs like this, but maybe one day I'll collect a few and start my 15th band.
