Oh, man, it's so good to be back, with a sense of purpose, again.

This round, I'm going to work on music to submit for a project I've been wanting to do for a long time. My goal is to develop tracks to send to Patrick Ferguson to collaborate with me on. Sort of a Broken Bells kind of thing, where I play Danger Mouse and submit tracks to Patrick's James Mercer to write lyrics and melodies to.

So, I'm not going to really concentrate on lyrics and melody much this round. Which suited me fine for this assignment. I put together some blather about religion, blah blah, but my heart wasn't really in it. From where I stand, fish/barrel, etc. Somebody else's problem, at this point, I'm happy to say.

Musically, I'm determined to play fast and loose for this project, with anything that comes to mind. A little of the old kitchen-sink production. I woke up this morning with Nine Inch Nails' "Closer" on the alarm clock, so that's where the beat began. I also knew that I wanted the 12-string and the distorted Wurly to be a part of this project, so they're in there, too. Some Bernie Worrell Prophet synth stuff.

I even like some of the melodies on this, though I'm going to turn it over to Patrick to let him keep or discard whatever he wants.

I don't know whether this will end up being a keeper, but I like where the project is heading, already.
