This week as last week I had a hard time getting motivated to be creative. When the song presented itself, begrudgingly, I had a hard time getting motivated to record it, resulting in a lo-fi iphone demo. Last week I fleshed out my iphone demo with a little bit of layering after I dropped it in my DAW. This week I just used some plugins to add sonic character to the demo, going for a full out "cassette made on Tascam 4 track in 1991" vibe. Hopefully my motivational crisis will not linger too much longer.
lyrics
when i served in the tertiary sector
i felt just like a bowling ball
then i was a sedentary sector director
and felt like a prison wall
i seen a whole lot pointless commotion
but i have’t seen a lot of coin
so i’m putting in for a promotion
and i’m inviting you to join
don’t let ‘em treat you like you don’t matter
don’t let ‘em tell you you’ve got nothing to say
don’t let use your dignity like a door mat
don’t let them take your self respect away
it’s just a whole lot of smoke and mirrors
nothing could be more plain
it’s another soggy day in Seattle
and they’re selling you the rain
you know that they can’t see you
that way they don’t have to care
if your ever going to get where you’re going
you’re gonna have to fight the whole way there
don’t let ‘em treat you like you don’t matter
don’t let ‘em tell you you’ve got nothing to say
don’t let use your dignity like a door mat
don’t let them take your self respect away
always remember
you’ve got a soul and you’ve got a heart
when the choir sings hallelujah
you got to stand up and sing your part
