Just haven't quite found my groove back in to this aesthetic space, this round. This one had a nice groove and vibe to it at the foundation, but I never really settled into anything compelling, melodically. And the lyrics and top lines came together at the end of the week; much better than they had a right to be, given the last-minute circumstances, but the whole thing hasn't really gelled yet.
lyrics
Thalia, on a good day
she moves to the sound
grâce notes, arabesques
breathes joy in the round
and she won't give away secrets dark
you must find how to light your own spark
but Thalia holds the fuse
and you're the mark
turn, turn on your lights
guide me homeward
dreams I can't understand
sings the songbird you lose
Apollo, shrinking inward
he's losing the note
seconds, tritones
gets lost in his throat
he goes prostrate at Thalia's feet
she just laughs at his love bittersweet
Apollo is dreaming
of the song
show me your black, secret art, Thalia
can't find the beat of my heart
can't find my way
