So, Jerry gave us the option of writing about returning to the song club, so I did that. Writing words is a struggle for me, but it is essential to the most common musical format of the modern age, so I try. I thought a few songs I've done in the club were ok, and the deadline was helpful to make me finish. I was hesitant to join this round since I wasn't feeling terribly songwritery, but I hoped if I made myself write something, maybe something good would come out. Well, maybe next week, but at least I did something.
lyrics
I guess I'll open my mouth once again. It seemed to go ok the first time.
What if I have nothing left to say, or worse no way to lasso loose thoughts swirling in my mind.
the hour is nigh
where did I leave my mind?
ahhhhhh ooooo
that didn't even rhyme.
I don’t want to waste your time.
Yet, here I go again
I wish I could keep Van Dyke Parks in my pocket, in case of word emergency.
He’d say, "Instead of "fine" you should say "transcendental chickadees". It's basically the same.
the hour is nigh
where did I leave my mind?
ahhhhhh ooooo
that didn't even rhyme.
don’t want to waste your time.
Yet, here I go again.
It seems so easy for you every week,
do words just flow out of your veins?
Or must you set your thoughts ablaze like me
and piece together whatever remains?
