lyrics

Me and my band of four
Wandering were
Under a gibbous moon
Dressed in feathers and furs

Then I heard a melody
Drifting through the trees
It pulled me with a gentle hand
Away from my company

Then I tripped on a toadstool
Collapsing to the ground below
That’s when the lady from the mountain
Came down to say hello

She wore the mask of a magpie
She had dragonfly wings
I was searching for the words to ask
What does it all mean?

Then she placed a slender finger
Reproachful on my lips
And laughing at me lightly
She began to sway her hips

She sang:
Don’t talk to strangers, don’t talk at all
You’re not in danger, so let yourself fall
Love’s not a language, it’s a mountain stream
So drink from the water and let yourself dream

I awoke up on the forest floor
The sun was midway ‘cross the sky
The pines were whispering politely
And shielding the light from my eyes

I was weary in my body
But I had clarity of mind
My spirit was soaring
As if I’d drunk a skin of wine

And I sang
Don’t talk to strangers, don’t talk at all
I’m not in danger, I’ll let myself fall
Love’s not a language, it’s a mountain stream
So I’ll drink from the water and let myself dream
