The ones that pass, unnoticed, the ones you never see.
The ones that make the world a better place.
They keep the bathrooms shiny, they sweep and clean the street.
They do so much, you never see their face.
Behind the scenes it happens. It was there, then it was gone.
That trashcan I push out on the street is empty when I get home
Now, someone has to do it. Just get it done, that’s the plan.
Now, perhaps it’s time I realize how very lucky I am.
The ones that pass, unnoticed, the ones you never see.
The ones that make the world a better place.
The leaves that fall go missing, the grass that’s mowed and swept,
They do so much, you never see their face.
I’d like to think that I am grateful. I’d like to think I appreciate.
I’d like to think deep down, inside my heart, I’d find the time to tell ‘em, “Hey, you did great!’
But, instead I often miss it. I just assume it’ll get done.
But, I know it’s high time, I realize. I need to thank ‘em, each and everyone.
The ones that pass, unnoticed, the ones you never see.
The ones that make the world a better place.
The litter that gets picked up, broken limbs get hauled away.
They do so much, you never see their face.
