about

I had limited time this week so I decided to repurpose the outro from that ridiculous song of mine from a couple of weeks ago, figuring, 'Well, the music is already done, so this will be a cinch," but it wasn't. Not at all. Long story short, I wanted to retrack my bass part and though some sort of psychoacoustic phenomenon, the baseline I was playing seemed to go in and out of tune, at random intervals, by about a quarter step and then it wouldn't seem out of tune at all. I bounced out an mp3 of the soloed bass and sometimes it sounded out of tune and sometimes it sounded totally normal. I seriously felt like I was going nuts. Turns out, there was just something going on with my earphones. I THINK. I switched to a different pair and it didn't happen again - not yet, anyway.
Then, I thought some keyboard stuff might be cool, but I still can't get my midi controller to connect to my computer, so I had to do that stuff on my computer keyboard.
Needless to say, my quick project was not so quickly done. Oh well.

Before you ask, I have no idea what this song is about. I guess it's a legend about some sort of plague or power or demon or something that can be released if one travels to a certain place and performs a certain ritual just certainly so, but so to why and to what end - I have no idea at all.

lyrics

I
On the edge of the Known
Past the bright Fields of Flame
In the Lost Halls of Stone
There’s a curse of a name

Inscribed on the yoke
Beamed to seal tight the room
That if clearly spoke
Will release from his tomb

The breath of Azazel

II
If the Seven Black Teeth
Are returned to the Cup
And it is placed in the Wreath
Before the sun can come up

Then from the high twisting spires
To the sick, drooping trees
Through the whispers of liars
We will spread the disease

III
To devour and to swarm
To tower and to storm
To acquire and to steal
To fire and to kill

To corrode and consume
To erode and to doom
To implode and to bloom
To release from his tomb

The breath of Azazel
