I have a very hard time staying out the cheese factory on this but oh well. I like the lyrics although they could use some fine tuning to get further away from cheese. I definitely channeled some Dwight on this and I will have to redo the verse melody to get further away from the great Mr. Y, but hey - there's only 12 notes.
lyrics
This Is A Sign
They closed the door first thing this morning
To my home of 30 years
All the doctor bills and warnings
And unemployment just left tears
Wife & kids went to stay with family
Oh so very far away
All I’ve got now is this cardboard
That I hold up throughout the day
This is a sign
That I don’t even want to try anymore
This is a sign
That there’s no future to bare
This is a sign
That I Can’t even cry anymore
It’s a sign that I’m the last one to care
This is a sign
When I went to write the message
Couldn’t find the words to say
How my world had simply ended
And how I’d really like some change
In how things had turned out for me
I never thought that I’d be here
But never less this is my story
That you’ll ignore while changing gears
Chorus
As I gave in to the cold air
And my last breath it came to me
The sign it fell down from my fingers
And now it lies there in the street
Facing up into the heavens
Where I am finally on my way
Where I’ll no longer be a burden
To those that wanted me to pay
