A sad reach for a Paul Thorne type humorous look at technology before and after. That's hard to do - I respect Paul Thorne greatly. I hope I am able to create some better stuff in this round.
I started this with just music then added from there. A bit forced and some serious rules broken about using technology in a song. Oh well...at least I'm still in for another try next week.
lyrics
Wait For The Internet
Sending this song to my high school self the Class of ‘85
In hopes that I can help me then to save a little time
This will be the greatest thing I’ve ever done for me
My high school self will look like a genius all because of me
I know you’re spending lots of time stuffin’ info in your brain
English, Math & History is driving you insane
Your teacher says to study hard and learn all that you can
Well, take a breath and take it easy, here’s a brand new plan
The future is bright, you will see
The world’ll be in your pocket with anything you wanna see
Wait for the Internet
All the things you need to know
You can carry in your pocket on a thing we call a phone
Don’t invest in that Britannica set
Trust me – you’ll be just fine
All that stuff will be on a thing we call ‘online’
Yes, this song is from yourself from the future sent online
Just looked up on the Internet how to send it back in time
Hope you’ll take this tune to heart and try to use this info well
Cause with speech to text and auto correct you won’t need to know how to spell
The future is bright you will see
You can look up anything you want
And it’ll show up instantly
Chorus
Well, on second thought I take back all these things I’ve said to you
You’ll end up with a crooked neck and your kids won’t talk to you
You’ll wreck your car distracted by a thing that we call ‘text’
And you’ll have so many passwords you won’t remember one to the next
Don’t wait for the Internet
Just enjoy the time you’re in
Your telephone don’t have dropped calls
And friend is still a friend
Go ahead and get that Britannica set
Trust me – it’ll be just fine
And all that stuff will come to you in its own time
So go slow and learn and you’ll have peace of mind
All these things will come to you in its own time
