Another in my series of what I'm starting to think of as my musical "comfort food." Nothing particularly challenging here, but I like it. And once again, the lyrics barely rise above the "scratch" level. Inasmuch as there are any lyrics, they're loosely inspired by Far From the Madding Crowd, which I recently revisited.
lyrics
Back on my heels
Driving your heart like a wheel
spinning around on its reel
who knows the time the moon rise?
I’ve seen this night before
Peace for the price of war
I’ve seen the clouds in clear skies
Trying to catch my breath again
Begging release, the day begins
The moment you find you’ve changed your skin
I’ve been waiting, I’ve been waiting
So long ago
Still feel the force of your “no”
Felt like the killer’s own blow
Somehow it kept me standing
So now find I’m still breathing somehow
Breaking what past for a vow
The promise you’re now demanding
Trying to catch my breath again
Begging release, the day begins
The moment you find you’ve changed your skin
I’ve been waiting, I’ve been waiting
Where did you think this would lead
Sometimes the slack is the speed
pull back your arrow and pray
We watch the skies turning gray
Trying to catch my breath again
Begging release, the day begins
The moment you find you’ve changed your skin
I’ve been waiting, I’ve been waiting
