I promised myself that I'd spend more time this round on writing and less on production, so, naturally, I started the round off with a fully-produced track that I played crappy drums on. I think I really know do know how to do life, or some of it. It's just the making-myself-do-the-right-thing part that's so hard.
Anyway, love is a car wreck. In slow motion. Not mine, you know, but for some.
lyrics
the pebble on the blacktop strikes the steel
the spring unloaded
pierces the pan rod
forever run roughshod
the axle to the rotor breaks the spin
and the contact
rejecting the motion
dissolving emotion
we won't live in doubt
we can't work it out
no voice left to shout
we can't work it out
the mercies of the shocks exhausted full
there's no crash pad
our imminent soft spot
no time for a last thought
the fulcrum bears the effort and the load
and we're airborne
the force of the ballast
the hearts in the balance
too hard to let you
die away
but you were gone already
anyway
