Super busy week, and I thought that this might finally be the week I'd have to bow out, but I managed to put something together at the eleventh hour.
For the record, most of my good mic's are set up downstairs for a drum session we finished up a while ago, so I actually tracked this in one rough take (the second time I'd actually played the song, and that's only because I had some feedback issues on the first take) using the internal mic on my studio iMac - first time I've ever done that, I think! Now I know why. Turns out, the internal mic's on iPhones sounds WAY better than that of the iMac.
lyrics
and I still believe it’s true
that the glass the sand runs through
it's the cheapest trick of light
and I keep falling for the sleight
keep falling for the sleight
when I came to find my place
it was a summer's state of grace
thought we'd cornered some new truth
in the cradle of our youth
the cradle of our youth
if the well’s still dry by the end of spring
then there ain’t nothing left but to sell your ring
momma told me not to go but the stakes were too high
and I don’t wanna see the look in her eyes
when I come back home
what made you think you had the choice
somebody needs to hear your voice
or did you think you'd beat the odds
you never feared you'd wake the gods
feared you'd wake the gods
it's the promise that you've blown
the velvet hides the bone
another day and then
the river's crossed again
the river's crossed again
if the well’s still dry by the end of spring
then there ain’t nothing left but to sell your ring
momma told me not to go but the stakes were too high
and I don’t wanna see the look in her eyes
when I come back home
