This song is a true story in 7/4 and 4/4. I think it may go by a bit fast because my test listeners weren’t able to repeat the story back to me but they liked the song. Oh well…half of what I listen too doesn’t tell me the story the first couple of times. I’m more of a melody listener than a lyric listener. Hope you enjoy! The shaker at the end is my dry skin rubbing my fingers together! Pass the lotion please!

We’re Gone
Me and Bev back in 1958
We were married at the Methodist church in Foxhall. VA
We took a honeymoon trip to Florida just to get away
We had a second hand ‘52 Plymouth to drive
Daddy said not to take it over 45
And we were gone, long gone
We were far away from home
Yeah We were gone, long gone
We were off and on our own
We stopped in Hardeeville just above the Georgia line
We went to Thelma & Paul’s just to visit and stay one night
They took us out to the county fair to have a good time
We lost all our money in a carnival game
We were left without a dime to our name
Yeah we were gone, long gone
We were far away from home
Yeah We were gone, long gone
The world was ours and ours alone
We woke up the next day and decided to head back home
We drove a ’52 Plymouth north bound out of town Route 1
The car broke down we walked a mile to find a phone
Daddy said to use the heaviest oil we could find
And not to take it over 35
Yeah we were gone, long gone
We were far away from home
Yeah We were gone, long gone
We were off and on our own
Yeah we were gone, long gone
The world was ours and ours alone
We were just two kids tryin’ to start our lives
And we learned to never take it over 35
