Since we are nearing another Halloween, I thought I'd post a track that resembles Frankenstein's Monster in its construction. The chords and the chorus melody was adapted from an earlier song that I was messing around with but never finished called "New Strings On An Old Guitar." I really liked that set of lyrics, so I'll probably finish that version as well at some point:
New strings on an old guitar
You've still got some songs in your repertoire
You're beat up and you're battered, but still here you are
New strings on an old guitar...
I know. I even impressed myself that I rhymed a word with "repertoire!"
The verse for today's burnt offering was a short chord sequence I've had recorded in my voice memos for at least three years. I didn't even think both parts went together (though they are the same four chords in a different order), but I managed to write another section to get from here to there. I like this better than last week's song, but that's not saying much.
lyrics
Sometimes you need to find a reason to get out of your bed
Sometimes you need to find a reason to get out of your head
So just lie still
And try to chill
I know when things go wrong
Can’t always sit down and write a song
Sometimes you need to find a way to be strong
Find a way to be all right when things go wrong
Sometimes you need to find another match to make a new spark
Sometimes you need to find another moon to light up the dark
So just hold on
And wait for Dawn
I know when things go wrong
Can’t always veg out and smoke a bong
Sometimes you need to find a way to be strong
Find a way to be all right when things go wrong
