I took a break from the horn-band writing this week to see whether I could write a rousing, solo acoustic roots-rocker. And for once, I did it the right way: I spent my limited time this week tweaking the songwriting, making changes all week to the lyrics and melodies. And then I simply recorded a quick one-and-done vocal-and-guitar demo, adding a little light percussion to keep things moving.

And in the end, it probably doesn't amount to much. Not sure I care for it a great deal. But I AM glad to step back and remind myself that it's possible to write a song with a more traditional process.
