So this one came out a bit more adult contempt than I wanted or certainly expected, and way different than Duncan's orig. I really liked the main chorus idea and overall message of his song. - I tried to use a lot of the lyrics (w/ some tweaking) and the chords and structure are pretty different. Also, thought it suited this one to be more piano based. But, hopefully the overall feeling didn't change too much - just about accepting the fact that nothing is ever "perfect" and yet, it can be everything you ever hoped for.
lyrics
We work to keep the lights on
Our love makes the world go round
It’s a gift this life, in a minute it's gone
Take the time to enjoy your song
This job, may never be done
This story continues on
To the end of the earth, across the blue sky
It's a story of you and I
We'll rise and fall together
Stand tall through any weather
Hopes and dreams this time it seems
It not always perfect, but it's meant to be
Wake up, and shake off sleep
Pour coffee, share crazy dreams
It’s the little bits, I miss you when you’re not with me
Thankful for your everything
We'll rise and fall as lovers
Stand tall with one another
Hopes and dreams we know it means
It not always perfect, but it's meant to be

This was an all iOs recording, but then I needed to "learn" a few things in the studio, so it was mixed in Logic and also I did the vocals there since it was faster. Once it was in, I decided to play some drums on top and I think that pushed it over the edge into ballad land - it originally sounded very nice without drums - but a guys gotta have fun right?
