In retrospect, it probably would have been more in the spirit of this thing to have tried to spend my time this week trying to figure out how to keep a listener's attention for 7 minutes with well-thought-out lyrics and storytelling. Instead, I let myself indulge in arrangement and production, gettin' my prog on a little bit. Not gonna lie that it wasn't fun, though.
lyrics
there's a tin can blowing
down the alleyway tonight
blows down one end, hits the wall
somebody kicks it back again
just keeps on blowing
I never felt above it all
and my phone keeps ringing
but I won't pick it up again
too many moving cars
and not enough heat
somebody broke the firing pin
but I would've bet on you
would've placed my trust in you
now I'll keep my money to myself
and I heard the foreman whisper slowly
"we'll be shutting down the dance floor"
if anybody here wanna take me down
well, I've been taken down before
and damn, you were the best of times
before you became a revolving door
but I would've bet on you
would've placed my trust in you
now I'll keep my money to myself
I would've bet on you
I would've gone to ground for you
but now I'll keep my powder to myself
