Well, I set out this week to write another songwriter-oriented tune. But something about the phrasing of our pre-ordained title never flowed for me, and nothing ever seemed right, even though I wrote some 5-6 hook ideas. So I just decided to have some fun and do a kitchen-sink track, something I haven't done in weeks. A little bit Love and Rockets, a little bit Beck, a little bit Nuggets. Not much to write home about, but kind of fun, and maybe Anand and I can use the track for licensing stuff, so I'll call it a moderate win.
lyrics
sleep when you've been buried
get a little getting while the getting's good
your mileage may vary
no one gets away with what they think they should
breathe a little breath while you've got the chance
the lid is coming down at the end of the dance
scratch your name inside, we'll remember you
but go on give it up when the marker is due
sleep when you've been buried
get a little getting while the getting's good
your mileage may vary
no one gets away with what they think they should
whistle on your way o'er the battleground
we could take a bullet when we're victory-bound
bitter tastes the dirt in the mortal end
so dance the fandango in my arms again
sleep when you've been buried
get a little getting while the getting's good
your mileage may vary
no one gets away with what they think they should
