Like a few other folks, I had a little aggression to get out this week.
Musically, I started with a really Jayhawks-ish idea, but it took a Crazy Horse turn pretty quickly. I was sorry that I didn't have time to play drums on this one (first one this round with canned drums, I think ...), but otherwise, this is pretty much raw first takes on everything. No 12-strings this week, but I gave that Bigsby on the Firebird a good workout ...
lyrics
so you want to start a little war
you want to swing your little fists
But you won’t sign your name
on all those stories that you twist
Cause I know how you live your life
And I know where you keep your heart
And I won’t play the sucker
when your tinderbox shoots sparks
Don’t you tell me how to think
Don’t you tell me how to feel
Don’t you tell me how to breathe
You don’t wanna see me kneel
All medicine, no sugar
You’ve been breaking rocks so long
you have lost the tools to build
burned my last good grace
In all the dignity you killed
You weren’t there when they smashed the lights
You won’t be there when the bloodshed starts
But sure as hell you’ll claim you’re
still the sheriff in these parts
Don’t you tell me how to think
Don’t you tell me how to feel
Don’t you tell me how to breathe
You don’t wanna see me kneel
All medicine, no sugar
