I haven’t ridden motorcycles, but I drove a 69 bug for years, so I relate to having a sense of pride and camaraderie with others that drive that same thing. I think that's what this may be about. Or leaving an office to hit the road on the weekend.
I kept writing in minor, which makes me happy but I realized it might not be upbeat to others, thus the bits o major.
I don’t play guitar much (the strings hurt my fingertips since viola calluses are rather different) and I tend to write on bass or ukulele, which isn't always terrific sounding by itself. So my husband Lee will come behind me with free reign to record as many tracks as he wants. So he did drums piano and two guitar tracks, so I’m posting it because I like it better than hearing just bass & piano.
This is not the "produced" demo. This is just how I like to do basic sloppy demos.
lyrics
I left the big cheese in his air conditioned cell
No explosions followed me down the parking deck stairwell
The arm went up and I was free
I headed home, where I could see
Freedom from ordinary gravity
To carry me to your backyard
I open my outdoor home to the vanguard
The road less traveled welcomes you to our backyard
Not a thing between my soul and the sky
If you have to ask, you never will know why
Lines bisecting I 16
Show me the way to find the scene
The lanes are filled with those who know just what I mean
I'll meet them all in the backyard
I open my outdoor home to the vanguard
The road less traveled welcomes you to our backyard
