This is the second song I wrote this week. I hated the first one, which wasn't working at all, so this one got started yesterday. Still a rush job and I'm not happy with the lyrics, but it's done.
lyrics
Trying to live on shifting sands
Surfing the ground, re-thinking plans
Change is hard to understand
Even mountains crumble surely
Suddenly dates are far behind
Seems I’ve lost my place in time
I’m not who I’d meant to be
All the things that I’ve said
All the things that I’ve done
Will there be anything left of me
And my castles made of sand
Sometimes I feel we live like ants
Going through motions in a trance
Whether for fortune or for chance
Collecting bits of gilt debris
Daily moments killing time
Colorless wasteland in my mind
What if the clocks all stopped abruptly
All the things that I’ve said
All the things that I’ve done
Will there be anything left of me
And my castles made of sand
When I stare up at the night
And see the twinkling from the past
Fragile moments end so fast
So I’ll burn, burn out bright
All the things that I’ve said
All the things that I’ve done
Will there be anything left of me
And my castles made of sand
