Broken tomorrow, broken dreams and broken now
Nothing but sorrow as I ponder on your vow
Place my tongue upon your blade and let it slide
It's a nation's suicide
Take me on your trip to nowhere
Your revered saints are billionaires
Place your noose around my neck and step aside
It's a nation's suicide
Pick your poison and take a stance
Just for fortune or for chance
Drive your nails into my hands and let me die
It's a nation's suicide

before the rains came down
her father held her
in her wedding gown
he knew
the moments come too few
he knew
the soldier steals a glance
the unwed bride considers
circumstance
he knew
she'd lost her field of view
he knew
and when the flood begins
no mercy overcomes the sins
lay your black heart down
don't go where you cannot feel the light
the junkie's neighbor rants
you've got to change, for fortune
or for chance
she knew
he'd reached his Waterloo
she knew
the sergeant stood his ground
without a thought beyond
the battleground
she knew
the war he'd signed on to
she knew
and when the flood begins
no mercy overcomes the sins
lay your black heart down
don't go where you cannot feel the light

Dancing with my chin
Hello high water
Rushing by my ears
Hello high water
For fortune or for chance
Sweeping o'er my crown
Hello high water
Shadow of a dance

AG Y'all - We March On
02:48
|
|||
Some people say build a wall
We scream no
The only way to win this war
Is let the hatred go
Together as one
Put down your guns
Lets start embracing
different faces
For fortune for chance
We take this humble stance
Better life is all they want
Isn't that what we're built on?
For fortune for free
For children we agree
Live the dream we all belong
We march on. We march on.
We wont let some closed off minds
Seal our fate
Stupid acts of hatred
shouldn't lead to more hate
Together we stand
Please take my hand
It may sound cliche
But get outta our way

Of course I'm scared
But I'll live to write another day
We are never quite prepared
But we put the ball into play
We wait and hope and wish for better things
We'd give our lives to see what the future brings
For fortune or for chance
We choose to take the middle road
But God has other plans
We push 'em back, but still we know
There's a place where we could be
It is not safe, but Lord knows we'll be free
Before too long
We stop and change the way we were
Until we're too far gone
We change our minds, don't know for sure
We laugh and cry and pray for better days
We'd give our lives to find a better way
For fortune or for chance
We choose to take the middle road
But God has other plans
We push 'em back, but still we know
There's a place where we could be
It is not safe, but Lord knows we'll be free
- play that harmonica, boy -
We laugh and cry and pray for better days
We'd give our lives to find a better way
For fortune or for chance
We choose to take the middle road
But God has other plans
We push 'em back, but still we know
There's a place where we could be
It is not safe, but Lord knows we'll be free

No time mid december
Goodnight happy new year soon
For fortune or for change to come
oh well nevermind
Islands and archetecture
alarms and bells and whistles full
Violence and Orchestration
are all the canvas that I need now
with the lights out
I can just be alone sometimes
the fish come out at night
sleep it off
let it fall
the fish come out at night
I'm greater than Hollywood
i am open all night
please dont let me out again
please dont let me out again

Trying to live on shifting sands
Surfing the ground, re-thinking plans
Change is hard to understand
Even mountains crumble surely
Suddenly dates are far behind
Seems I’ve lost my place in time
I’m not who I’d meant to be
All the things that I’ve said
All the things that I’ve done
Will there be anything left of me
And my castles made of sand
Sometimes I feel we live like ants
Going through motions in a trance
Whether for fortune or for chance
Collecting bits of gilt debris
Daily moments killing time
Colorless wasteland in my mind
What if the clocks all stopped abruptly
All the things that I’ve said
All the things that I’ve done
Will there be anything left of me
And my castles made of sand
When I stare up at the night
And see the twinkling from the past
Fragile moments end so fast
So I’ll burn, burn out bright
All the things that I’ve said
All the things that I’ve done
Will there be anything left of me
And my castles made of sand

“The Hard Way”
The mask I wear doesn't fit like it used to before
I don it on and make my way out the door
Adjust and shift like a nervous twitch, a junkie needs a fix
And I'm just a little perplexed how bleak beneath the surface is
But I'm catching glimpses of something underneath
Every time my reflection is looking back at me
Maybe I've outgrown it, getting to know the man below it
Somehow everything is crashing in on me
If all luck is earned better believe I'll get my turn
Night and day I yearn to make up for all I've learned
I've seen the ups and downs, grateful still to be around
I'll get ahead someday even if it has to be the hard way
Always played the safe bets, staying between the lines
Sucker for contentment even if confined
But something stirs within me like fire down in a hole
Churning like the ocean go all in or fold
I'm playing with the edges and the strings
Start to feel like maybe I can breathe
Sweat beads up, I wipe my face clean
Sun shines down on me the first of what I need
If all luck is earned better believe I'll get my turn
I'll make my way across in spite of bridges burned
Change of circumstance for fortune or for chance
I'll be okay even if it has to be the hard way
