Another perfectly serviceable but forgettable 2-hour tune. Tried to write a Petty/Lowery-ish semi-funny sadsack song of lost love and managed to sneak in a decent line or two. Not sure it's worth much more than that, though.
lyrics
I’m not a day drinker as a rule
but it’s not everyday I’m made to feel the fool
I’m not ashamed to drink this bar bone-dry
thought I’d feel much worse to look the devil in the eye
I thought I got right underneath your skin
now it seems you’ve got that lazy eye again
Some kinds of love were built to run too fast
Our kind of love was never built to last
if there’s a shadow of a doubt
I’ll take it back
you wore me out
change my mind
say I’m wrong
it was in the cards all along
these ten-cent stars
could realign
you never know
so change my mind
It was so loud that first night at the bar
I bought you drinks, you ran your hands down my guitar
To tell the truth, I never would have bet
That kind of joy don’t give me nothing but regrets
if there’s a shadow of a doubt
I’ll take it back
you wore me out
change my mind
say I’m wrong
it was in the cards all along
these ten-cent stars
could realign
you never know
so change my mind
If you ask me now, I guess I shoulda known
I’m a busy signal, you’re my dial tone
You’re the star, we’re all just cameos
Can’t change the wind that changed
The way it blows
if there’s a shadow of a doubt
I’ll take it back
you wore me out
change my mind
say I’m wrong
it was in the cards all along
these ten-cent stars
could realign
you never know
so change my mind
