Yeah...the synth version of this SUUUUUUUCKED. I do hope to do some more synth work since I have a little more time now, but oof...there wasn’t any way I was submitting the first arrangement of this. I had to throw the vocal and piano down pretty quickly after fooling around with a bunch of synth nonsense that just wasn’t working so apologies for the rough performance and mix.
This was a tough assignment. No one will accuse me of this being the best tune I’ve submitted to MM3AMMC, but it ain’t the worst either. It’s nice to be back though. Here’s to another round!
A couple of fun little tidbits:
Alpha Centauri is the brightest star in a cluster of three contained within one solar/planetary system. “Project Longshot” was a project in the 80’s intended to put an unmanned spacecraft in orbit of Alpha Centauri B. The module would’ve used nuclear pulse propulsion which, get this, is exactly what it sounds like; setting off a series nuclear blasts in sequence to provide thrust. The trip would’ve taken 100 years, but was scrapped...I can only assume due to problems testing and implementing a bunch of atom bombs on a rocket ship, lol.
lyrics
Salutations from the blue dot cross the dark
Saw y’all lookin’ and we ain’t so far apart
Inside the record sleeve we’re circled on the chart
We’re pretty friendly just as long as you look the part
Don’t know if we’re ready for the truth.
Do silicon hearts still get the summertime blues?
Did Major Tom splash in your oceans blue
Are we really much different from you
We’ve been left to our own designs
And we’ve gotten it wrong more than a few times
Do y’all binge watch, do you color outside the lines
What’s the tee on ol’ Centauri 9?
Don’t know if we’re ready for the truth.
Do silicon hearts still get the summertime blues?
Did Major Tom splash in your oceans blue
Are we really much different from you
Hate to say we got quite a few issues
Are there crazy people on your evening news?
Brain dead clicks and a few viral views?
Do your leaders only have money left to lose?
Don’t know if we’re ready for the truth.
Do silicon hearts still get the summertime blues?
Did Major Tom splash in your oceans blue
Are we really much different from you
You got three suns, does it ever get dark
What goes on on Project Longshot Boulevard?
If it gets cold does your hyperdrive not start?
Anybody got busted spaceships in their yard?

Need unsecured loans for your start?
