I started a fire to keep the one I love warm
and my love would gather branches to feed the fire
and on and on it went and others came to warm themselves
and they brought sticks to make the flames higher
is there anything in this life that's pure good with out the bad
I don't think so
if it can keep you alive it can also make you dead
you can start a fire to keep you warm
but don't leave it unattended
it is wild and to stay alive it must spread
I just can't wait til I know
you only see after it's done
lightning never strikes in the same spot twice
can I keep this fire going
or will I have to start again
when it comes to luck you never know when
so I do with what's been given
after the fire's grown do I keep my cards close
or do I open my hand to let others see
do I let my secrets out do I let strangers in
do I open it up or keep it a mystery
is it luck or is it fate that flashed in front of me
and if its luck, is it good or is it bad
am I part of some cruel joke
do I tend this fire forever
til I'm dead or gone mad
I just can't wait til I know
you only see after it's done
lightning never strikes in the same spot twice
can I keep this fire going
or will I have to start again
when it comes to luck you never know when
so I do with what's been given
