Hi everyone, I'm glad to be part of this group. I wrote this song in my head on Monday and Tuesday and started recording on Wednesday. The structure is a little unconventional, since the chorus is kind of the same as the verse, with what I call a bridge and interlude to break it up, and an extended chorus at the end. The rhyme scheme wasn't really planned out, but once I got the first verse (chorus), I fit the rest of the verse/chorus's to that to keep it consistent. Basically, the structure is:
V/C
I took a chance
did my best
gave my all
put myself to the test
but I wound up
dry
V/C
I listen to
music to
distract my mind
but sometimes I wind up
dry
B
The river will ease my mind
cool water flowing through me
I want to get in and reset time
float downstream
V/C
and when I get out
I'll bring water to you
lend a helping hand
It might be your turn to be
dry
Interlude
Does the sun seem to be in your eyes?
Have you waited long enough?
Did you see a mirage on the sand?
An oasis to fill you up?
V
So many constant distractions
I get low and I don't know why
you might have to tell me I'm
Extended Chorus
Parched and I need a drink
Walking in the desert, no water pressure in the sink
I'm lost in the world, Adam outside the gates
I've got dark clouds, but I ain't got rain as of late
I will lend a helping hand, I will lay down a road just for you
Maybe someday you will do the same
Cause you might see that I am
Dry
