So here's the concept behind this song...superheroes. Yeah, superheroes. However, I wanted to turn the concept of a superpower on it's head. We consider a superpower something that enables a person to be a force for good or evil...but what if the superpower is actually a prison that confines the individual? That's the central theme of this song. The lyrics look at a guy who only lives in the past...never able to forget...and never able to regain the glory of what he once was...trapped by his ability to remember...he's the yesterday man...
lyrics
Walking backwards everyday
Wondering if the past is gone
Why do they run away?
Why won't the moments hold on?
*Chorus*
He's yesterday man
He's yesterday man
You can't understand
The yesterday man
He wants so badly
To hold on to his youth
When he was not so weary
Or so long in the tooth
*Chorus*
*Bridge*
You know it goes by so quickly
Oh, it's gone so fast
Wake up one morning
And your best days are past
