they tell of a man so full of love
that he came down to earth to help us to find our way
all of the sinners and whores and lowest of lows.
He cared for all, the rich and the poor
the large and the small those with disease
and the dirtiest ones he held them all close to his heart

when I die I will climb the highest mountain
and I will walk upon waters as he did
I hope to meet him at the gates of heaven

the story is told he was born to a virgin
growing to preach of compassion to all
and his followers believed him to be the son of our lord
authorities took him in, it is said that he died for our sins
was raised up to heaven to be with his father again
to look upon us with his glory

I hope to meet him at the gates of heaven

Take what you will believe if you want to
and do unto others as you would have done unto to you
you still can't deny those are good words to live by
and as I get older I hope that I led a good life
and my sins are forgiven for better for worse
I hope that I did the best that I could
