Despite the fact that this is a short week (heading off for vacation Saturday, and I promised myself I'd take today "off" for my birthday), I felt good about my prospects this week, particularly since - for the second week in a row - I've had an outlet in mind: my Friday Night Music Club "band" for the September performance. I went into this with a general vibe/genre in mind, as well as a singer's voice that I would be writing for.

But it wasn't to be. Inspiration just didn't hit. I know what Mitchell was angling for, but I couldn't find a way to reconcile the assignment with the kind of song I was hoping to write for my FNMC band, and I ended up with something in the middle, and that something was neither here nor there. Ah, well! This is not quite as "throwaway" as some of the other songs I've written this round, but it's still nothing really to work with. At least I can say that I spent part of my birthday working on music ...
