I LOVED this assignment - I was inspired by watching "Ford v. Ferrarri," again last night. My song is about a racer and his relationship with the car and race as an allegory for life and your health

The driver straps on his helmet
And pulls his gloves on tight
The rain has barely started,
It’s due to last all night

He’s memorized the curves ahead
He will not take them slow
Saving the brakes, He knows
he has miles yet to go

The racer knows
When the light changes
He’s gotta go

He knows his job is easy
If he keeps the lead
Keeps looking in the mirror
In spite of his speed

He pushes, strains the motor
Puts it in the red
Keeps his razor focus
his eyes straight ahead

The racer knows
If he pushes too hard
The engine blows

When you are running the race
The only lap that matters is the last one

Until the race is over
You never slow
