Another Molly/Doug joint!

After the somber events that Mitchell referred to in the challenge, and after the somber song I wrote last week in the wake of those events, I wanted to write something light this week. I've been making Molly sing these dark tunes, and I wanted to give her something sweeter to sing with me.

This song started with the premise that, if I was going to have begin with Mitchell's near-death experience, I was going to start with the simplicity of the hook line of this song. From there, it grew into a song that had nothing to do with the facts of the inspirational experience. It's just a song about the necessity of hard work and sacrifice and flexibility to keep a relationship alive. The only other cock-eyed reference I made to Mitchell was the ironic reference to the lover's "angel voice."
