It's come to my attention that I've spent far too much time on my MM3AM songs lately - particularly in production. So my primary personal mandate this round is that I've allowed myself a maximum of two hours a week - in theory, one for writing, and one for demo'ing. I went just over this week - 2:15, but so be it.

I've also felt like I have not been hitting the nail on the head for quite some time, so I'm going back to some core "comfort zone" kinds of inspirations this round. So I had a feeling that Jerry and I were both gonna go in the same direction. This is an attempt to pick up a pretty straight-ahead Blue Rodeo kind of vibe. Nothing at all very special about this one, but it's a solid first draft, I think.

Made some shady friends, tried to get around
Got a little close to the source
He sang his own praises like a battle cry
Shoulda know better, smoked his own supply
They’re shutting down the paper, left him out to dry
Too stoned to feel remorse
