So I thought, "Hey, Bryan Adams is Canadian, I like Bryan Adams; let's write a Bryan Adams-style song." This sent me on a wild journey revisiting his tunes (and my youth), trying to pick up on songwriting nuance and production styles of the 80's pop/rock era. I didn't overthink the chords and melody too much. I picked a cliche-ish song title ala "Heat Of The Night" or "Straight From The Heart" and wrote lyrics (or tried to) of young love angst. I researched how to get a good 80's guitar sound. I put on my best gravely voice and reverbed the heck out of it. I adapted a solo from "Cuts Like A Knife" and inadvertently went a little Oasis on the bridge. In the end I'm not sure this is much of a Bryan Adams song (or a Steve Lindsley song for that matter) but I had fun with it.
lyrics
The moment's come
The time is now
Time to figure out if this can work somehow
I'm with you
You're here with me
Still we're hung up on the possibilities
Been down this road before
Don't want to wander anymore
I’ve been waiting
Far too long
For this broken heart of mine to come along
And I think
You’ve felt the same
Could it be these two hearts have a home again
If you wanna be with me
Like I wanna be with you
Show me that you love me
I recall
Younger days
When I didn't care who I hurt by mistake
But now I've changed
A better man
A man who wants to share his life until the end
Love has won the game
I'll never be the same
If you show how me that you love me
Show me that you love me
For all my life I've waited for that one to come along and show me how
How to live for someone else and give me hope in the here and now
The moment's come
To see this through
I've been waiting all along for only you
