Well, I have to admit seeing the assignment this week was terrifying at first... DD's certainly gonna hate another happy, positive tune from me... but couldn't think of any other to pay tribute to what parents do. Maybe I can rework this into a Bryan Adams or Bob Seger tune! Kinda how it came out to me.
lyrics
v1
In different cultures, in different ways
In words on a page or hands to their feet
Respect our elders, tribute to the way
They raise us up, to who we're gonna be
Persistence, patience, and sacrifice
Love, commitment, and care
We fight, we argue, success we go through
From first to the last, you're always there
c1
It wasn't always perfect, but nothing ever is
Did your best, and from the heart
WIth a strong foundation of love and inspiration
how to live, how to love, how to do my part
v2
Many lessons learned, as the pages turn
In our lives, and the books we read
Bikes and movies, friends and stories
Provide for everything we need
Challenges, support, encouragement
Trust, ambition, and faith
Shoulder to lean on, guiding beacon
At every stage you've been there
c2
bridge
I never realized it when we were younger
But now I see at all so clear
Behind it all, you had our best in mind
So thankful to have you both here...
