Another week that I've favored developing a track and an arrangement over lyrics. I do believe that, lyrically, I have (barely) satisfied the assignment. Still, I like the vibe of the tune, and for my goals for this round, I might have a good first draft of a potential live tune here. I was listening to Beck when I began this today, someone whose music I love but rarely go back to, these days, but it really seemed to fit the breezy vibe of this gorgeous spring day. Everything flowed pretty quickly from there.
lyrics
I put my tools in the box
I disconnected all the neon lights
I can’t be bothered with your clocks
I’ve had my fill of all these jumped-up nights
Sometimes a good soul’s had enough
Sometimes I’m past the point of no return
Between the scrapple and the scruff
Sometimes I wanna see the whole thing burn
Everybody scream and shout
Gonna show you what it’s all about
Going where the sun can bleach away our pain
Put away your poison pen
The kids are on their way again
Going down south for the smell of sugarcane
Sugarcane
